Nigeria to build LNG plant in Akwa Ibom State
A $8bn liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant would be built in Nigeria's
south-eastern Akwa Ibom State.
State governor Godswill Akpabio made the disclosure while speaking at
the Margaret Ekpo International Airport in Nigeria's Calabar City. He
said that the LNG plant would be built at Tom Short Island in the Mbo
Local Government Area of the state.
"We are in partnership with an international organization based in
Greece to make our LNG dream come true," he said, adding that the team
of experts had visited Greece for preliminary discussion with the
project partners.
Akpabio said that apart from boosting development in the Niger Delta
region, the project would also generate employment opportunities.
